Inspiration: Bougainvillea

I love bougainvillea. It grows all over San Francisco and it makes me smile every time I see it. I feel like I'm living in a beautiful tropical location (even when its foggy and gross here) because of the bright, colorful blooms. I love love love the pink, cream, and green combination of this particular plant that I ride past every day.

I know I'm a sucker for the combination of pink and green, but I think this is a particularly elegant combination that would be well suited for something fun and funky or pretty and elegant.

Interesting botanical fact, the beautiful colored blooms on bougainvillea aren't actual blooms at all. The real blooms are tiny and usually white, but they are surrounded by special, decorative leaves (called bracts) that look like flower petals.
